Dear email,
I’m not generally a fan of films that feature a lot of fighting, but when Christopher Nolan’s Odyssey comes out next week – and, if the trailer is anything to go by, there will be a lot of fighting – I’ll be at the head of the cinema queue. I’m fascinated by this epic story and have been petitioning friends to join me at the cinema. “It’s a star-studded cast: Matt Damon, Elliot Page, Anne Hathaway” I keep telling them. The lovely expression “star-studded” is explained below.
It’s a loose focus on fame we have in this newsletter. You can find a link to an essay in Spotlight on the topic of fame and celebrity, which looks at fame-culture in the USA. It’s a very worthwhile read. Continuing on this theme, one of Hollywood’s most successful directors has, together with his wife, built an amazing museum in Los Angeles. Take a look below.
For the next newsletter, Judith Gilbert, editor-in-chief of Business Spotlight, will be back with more interesting topics from around the English-speaking world.

star-studded

Did you know...? If you go stargazing on a clear summer’s night, the sky will be star-studded. And if you prefer going to the cinema? The film might be star-studded too. For example, if you choose to see Christopher Nolan’s new adaptation of the Odyssey. With – among others – Matt Damon, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron and Anne Hathaway, the cast features enough stars to rival the night sky...

The Lucas museum
A starship appears to have landed in Los Angeles. But instead of Jedi characters, it contains art. This is the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, founded by Star Wars creator George Lucas and his wife, Mellody Hobson. They have been collecting art since the 1960s, amassing more than 40,000 works of art and film memorabilia.
The museum was set to open in 2021, but the opening date was pushed back to 2022, then to 2023, then to 2025. Finally, a date has been set and it will open in September 2026.

Mellow Yellow
Business Spotlight editor Rachel Preece shares her favourite after-work drink in Munich.
“I love Munich’s famous beer gardens and breweries but, sometimes, I really want a dark, intimate bar with great cocktails. Zephyr is such a place. It’s unpretentious, and the friendly bartenders use a delightful mix of spices, herbs and alcohol to create deliciously unusual cocktails. My favourite cocktail here, called Mellow Yellow, is a gin-yuzu fusion – light yellow, fresh and moreish.”
Recipe
• 3 cl Hendrick’s gin infused with roasted corn • 3 cl chicory bitter • 3 cl vermouth blend • 1 cl yuzu sake • 1 cl verjus
1. Mix together and serve over ice 2. Decorate with chicory leaves
