Dear email,
âWonderful, but perhaps a little crazyâ, is how I would describe the atmosphere of the last few weeks in the Spotlight team offices.
In September, we began creating new content and layout for the relaunch of Spotlight. Everything was up for grabs. âI think itâs time to throw out these pages,â said a colleague, listing around half of the magazine. The rest of us took a deep breath and considered the idea. âThere are so many fascinating society topics to choose from. Where do we begin?â asked another team member. âHow about some softer colours in the layout?â âHow do we get good illustrations of our columnists?â
Underlying all the back and forth were two unspoken questions. Will the relaunched Spotlight meet the high standards we have set ourselves? And will we actually get this magazine out on time? The answer to the first is a resounding yes! Everyone on the team is proud of this modern, relevant, exciting and beautiful magazine. The answer to the second is also yes, exactly on time.
And thatâs why weâve decided to send out this extra newsletter, to offer you a sneak peek of the brand-new magazine. You can use our special offer to get the new magazine, once it comes out on Friday 12 December. But be quick: the offer is only available until Wednesday 26 November!

Did you know...? The word launch is often used to describe the introduction of a new product. After some time, this product might benefit from a little makeover â to celebrate its relaunch.

What hasnât changed
Some things stay the same! For example, that weâre an international team, supported by amazing correspondents from around the globe, and that we love making this wonderful magazine. Weâve been having so much fun, discussing language topics, exciting story ideas and comparing design drafts.
We hope that youâll have as much fun reading the upcoming magazine as weâve had creating it. Will it serve and entertain you? Once the issue is out (12 December!), take a look at the new Spotlight and send your feedback to us here: spotlight@zeit-sprachen.de
