Dealflow France #37: Egide raises €8m to build Europe’s next drone interceptors. OVHcloud’s first acquisition.Welcome to this 37th edition of the Dealflow France newsletter: we aim to be the best way to follow the French startup and VC ecosystem.Hi everyone, This week was a relatively quiet one on the pure-play VC side. Most rounds came in below €10 million, and the two largest figures in the week, Hynaero’s €117 million and Enersweet’s €45 million, are better described as an aerospace program financing and a growth equity roll-up respectively than as classic venture deals. Strip those out and you are looking at a week of modest seed activity spread across defence, deep tech, health, and gaming. One deal worth flagging specifically: Sans Strings Studio, the US-based real-time puppetry and interactive animation studio co-founded by French founder Sébastien Deguy (Oscar-winner and creator of Substance 3D acquired by Adobe), raised a $5.5 million Seed co-led by Red River West and a16z Speedrun. Let’s dive in. 💸 Startup funding newsRounds €5M to €15M

The instrument caps subsidy processing at four months and covers up to 100% of eligible costs. It is expected to be operational from early 2027. Two large rounds that are worth noting but sit outside the classic venture category: Hynaero raised €117 million from Bpifrance and la Région Sud to finance its Frégate F100 amphibious water bomber program, and Enersweet raised €45 million in growth equity led by Ring Capital to fund acquisitions in energy transition software. Both are significant in their domains but closer to infrastructure financing and roll-up strategy than traditional venture. |
