Museums in the British capital are some of the best in the world and whether you decide to visit London Museum (see below) or any of the other great art and culture locations around the city, I promise it will be an enriching experience.
Speaking of enrichment: have you heard of Lucy Guo? The US entrepreneur has, at the tender age of 30, become the youngest female self-made billionaire. How can anyone achieve that? When I was 30, I was still planning my career and regularly borrowing a tenner off my friends to pay for a pizza.

Visit London Museum in 2026!
|
|
|
|
|
London Museum (known until 2024 as the Museum of London) closed its doors at the London Wall location in 2022. Requiring a larger site for its collection of more than six million objects â the worldâs largest urban history collection â the museum will move to the General Market Building and Poultry Market of Londonâs iconic Smithfield meat market. A partial reopening is planned for 2026, with the rest to follow in 2028. Some trading will continue at Smithfield until 2028. This will make 2026 a great time to see a working market next to a museum that covers thousands of years of London history.
The museumâs approach is based on time, with spaces dedicated to six different kinds of time, ranging from Real Time and Past Time all the way to Imagined Time. The heart of the museumâs object collection will be housed in the permanent galleries. Situated in the General Market Building, this will be the first part of the museum to open. Another part of the museum will be located underground, in the spectacular, newly discovered and renovated vaults.

Bright, beautiful, deadly

Pictured here is a Soviet-era MiG-21 fighter jet â covered in millions of brightly coloured glass beads. Itâs the final piece in the Weapons of Mass Production trilogy by South African artist Ralph Ziman. The other two pieces in the series â also transformed with traditional African beadwork created by craftspeople in Johannesburg â are an AK-47 assault rifle and a Casspir, an armoured vehicle that came to symbolize South Africaâs apartheid regime.
According to the Museum of Flight in Seattle, Washington, where the MiG-21 is on display until 26 January 2026, Ziman created this project to âeducate people on the history of apartheidâ.
