As this newsletter’s audience has grown (approaching 800,000 subscribers!), I’ve realized that we have a unique opportunity to capture insights into the experiences and state of mind of hundreds of thousands of working professionals across product, and the tech landscape more broadly. And I’ve been sleeping on this opportunity. Let’s change that. To kick things off, today I’m launching my first-ever industry survey: The Lenny’s Newsletter Compensation Survey. This survey aims to create a trusted benchmark of what compensation you should expect for each role in tech, by level, company stage, and geography. We’ll be asking you for your (anonymized) compensation data, including salary, equity, and/or bonus, and we’ll share the results back with this community along with in-depth analysis and takeaways. To help me design and run this survey, I roped in my former colleague Louise Beryl, who was recently head of user research at Figma and, prior to that, a user research leader at Airbnb, Instagram, and Chegg. She’s my go-to advisor on all things surveys, and I’m thrilled to be collaborating on this work with her.
